We are delighted to have RiderLevel team up with us as a sponsor of the event.
RiderLevel© provides a globally standardised handicap system for cyclists. With a RiderLevel handicap, a cyclist can compare their performance for each of their rides. Or, they can see their Net Time ranked against other cyclists’ efforts riding the same route.
RiderLevel calculates a cyclist’s performance based on gps data uploaded to a Strava account. After accounting for Stops (traffic lights etc.) their data is compared against our theoretical elite cyclist to create a score. This score is comparable for rides of any distance (beyond 8kms), and over any course profile. This allows cyclist's to accurately compare a 20km flat out ride on Beach Road against a 100km effort climbing through the Dandenong’s.
A cyclist can apply all their ride history to calculate a single RiderLevel. Or they can selectively categorise each ride by bicycle or type of ride (Race, Commute, Workout, etc). A member could have a RiderLevel of 72 on their Time Trial bicycle, 65 on their Road bike, and 42 on their Commute (Note: a higher RiderLevel is ‘better’). A RiderLevel can be calculated from as few as 3 rides, but like a golf handicap, accuracy improves with additional history.
After each ride, RiderLevel calculates:
a ride score,
the Target Time representing the rider’s potential for that ride, and
the rider's net time.
RiderLevel is perfectly suited to club races, gran fondos, and days such as the OHA Cycling Event.
RiderLevel (www.riderlevel.com) was founded by an Old Haileyburian in late 2016. In October 2016, Strava selected RiderLevel as one of their Top 20 Apps (from a population of over 1000).
RiderLevel’s membership and usage has grown considerably and consistently. Members come from over 80 countries, and more than 300,000 activities have a RiderLevel score.
As part of their support to our Event, RiderLevel will provide a free 6-month RiderLevel Subscription to all participants. And, for the next 12 months they are offering a 50% discount to all friends of OHA Cycling.
By completing the ride, you also have the chance of taking home a jersey donated by RiderLevel.
We are looking for commercial partners to help us make a great day! Interested individuals and companies should contact Russell Davidson at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
A day not to be missed. Limited places available.
