The reunion was held at The George on Collins and was the brainchild of former Haileybury Head of Athletics, Tim Parkes ('70).
1989 Head of Athletics, Andrew Mackenzie attended the event as did his son, Chris ('88)
Those in attendance remembered the glory years of Haileybury athletics, most notably the heroic performances of Craig Furber ('90) who always seemed to be competing in an event throughout the day.
Each of the Premiership members in attendance was asked to provide their highlight of their time in the athletics program, with many reinforcing that the hard work, team commitment and cameraderie was at such fever pitch that the whole team was aligned as one towards winning the Premiership.
Many commented on the amazing 1989 4x100 metre Under 17 team of Paul Hopgood ('91), Nicolas Hanson ('91), Craig Furber ('90) and Andrew Cikalov (dec) ('90) as well as the inspirational efforts of 1988 captain, Nick Gordon ('88) in competing in the Open 100,200, 400 and 4x100m events.
The timing of the event was perfect as those in attendance were able to lift their glass, not only in celebration of their achievements, but also of the 2019 APS Girls Athletics Premiership, that had just been won by the Haileybury girls for the first ever time on the preceding weekend.
