Seeking OHA Artists!

Koala Sculpture project

Overview

2020 marks the beginning of one of Haileybury’s biggest and most exciting art projects – the Koala Sculpture Project. During the year Haileybury students and artists will decorate 20 large koala sculptures that will be displayed around our four Melbourne Campuses.  In doing so, this project aims to;

  • Engage young people in the arts
  • Increase the visibility of the arts within the Haileybury Community
  • Foster links with the art community outside of Haileybury
  • Raise funds for an arts scholarship for a student to attend Haileybury

How to get involved

We are looking for OHA’s who are interested in being a feature artist and/or those who would like to work with some of our young artists in completing their piece.

Feature artists

Feature artists will be provided with a white koala sculpture and be asked to decorate it in keeping with the 2020 Tattoo theme. Artists interested in becoming a feature artist are asked to present a one page application with;

  • A creative experience or exhibiting CV
  • A proposal for the work
  • A sketch of their design

Feature artists will have access to the sculpture at the beginning February and works must be completed by the end of June. We also ask that images of the process are presented  for the students to see.  This would be linked to a QR code that would be placed on the sculpture.

Work with our young artists

We want to engage our creative community who may be interested in working with our students in art club, held at each campus, to develop a design for their Koala and bring it to life.

If you are interested please contact Mr Sam Lucas (Head of Visual Arts); sam.lucas@haileybury.vic.edu.au. Please note that all artists will need to be available during school hours.
