OHA Assistant Treasurer – Voluntary Support Role

The OHA is looking to support our current Treasurer, Ian Clydesdale with a voluntary support role of Assistant Treasurer.

The role would ideally suit a current tertiary student studying a Finance related degree. Valuable experience and mentoring will be provided by our voluntary Treasurer.

As OHA Assistant Treasurer, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance. You will primarily work alongside the Treasurer and the Office to execute various financial tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities include processing income and expenditure matching in Xero, which is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records. You will collaborate closely with the Treasurer to manage these tasks, ensuring they’re completed weekly or monthly.

On a quarterly basis, you’ll complete income and expenditure matching in Xero and process activity statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will submit BAS statements to the ATO.

During the yearly cycle, you’ll actively participate in budgeting processes, including events budgets and enrolments. You will assist in determining day-to-day transactions and year-end financials, identifying prepayments, accruals, and confirming with debtors and creditors. Engaging auditors and managing general ledger reconciliations will also be part of your responsibilities.

Furthermore, you’ll explore opportunities for improvement, such as enhancing the receipting process and investigating alternative investments.
