First OHA members inducted from Haileybury International School, Tianjin (HIST)
Principal Derek Scott and Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Russell Davidson travelled to Beijing in the middle of November to welcome our first graduates from HIST. They were joined by Foundation Staff Member, Lisa Lanati, and Old Haileyburians, Michael Xing (OH 2015) and piper, Kieran Marshall (OH 2015).
The 20 graduates were presented with their Old Haileyburians Association tie (boys) and necklace (girls) and warmly welcomed into the OHA network.
The graduation resembled a traditional Haileybury celebration whilst at the same time encompassing a sense of Chinese pride and ceremony. Founding Principal, Nicholas Dwyer spoke passionately about the school and about the resilience and determination of the pioneering students.
The students have now completed their VCE examinations and now await their ATAR score. Many will arrive in Australia in early 2017 as they commence university at their chosen institution.
The OHA intends of providing a strong support network for each of the graduates including;
- Providing a mentor for each student.
- Providing a welcoming orientation of Melbourne.
- Conducting a range of social events.
- Encouraging graduates to network with fellow Old Haileyburians at the many OHA events during the year.
- Encouraging patronage of various OHA Clubs.
We are calling on members of the OHA community who wish to be part of the mentoring program for our HIST graduates to contact Russell Davidson at [email protected]
