Jackson Roper (OH 2014)

Where are they now: After completing a degree in Property Valuation at RMIT and crunching numbers as a valuer, Jackson Roper (OH 2014) found himself longing for more than just an office role. He wanted to do something more hands on and community focussed. So, what did he do? He traded his desk for the frontline of Victoria’s fire services! According to Jackson, “It is the best decision I have ever made, and I have never looked back!”.

Jackson joined the former Metropolitan Fire Brigade in 2019 and is now a Qualified Firefighter with Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV). He recently completed a ‘heavy rescue’ specialist course and is now qualified in vehicle and industrial accidents.

Based at FRV’s Carlton Fire Station and covering half of Melbourne’s CDB, he’s always in the heart of the action. With a schedule that’s as dynamic as his job, Jackson works 2-day shifts, 2-night shifts, then savours 4 glorious days off.

In what spare time he has, Jackson loves the tranquillity of camping and fly fishing in the Victorian high country and West Gippsland.

Thanks for staying connected, Jackson! We look forward to catching up with you again at your 10 Year Reunion on Friday, 10 May 2024 at Valhalla 😊.
