International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Last week, we proudly celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a day dedicated to championing the achievements and potential of women and girls in the scientific community. This year’s theme, “Synergising AI, Social Science, STEM and Finance: Building Inclusive Futures for Women and Girls”, reminds us that meaningful change is only possible through coordinated action across disciplines.
Our recent student-led STEM Panel featured three engaging Old Haileyburians: Abbey Leys (OH 2018), Qerime Alimovski Ameti (OH 2007), and Tatiana Devendranath (OH 2011). Each speaker shared their passion for STEM, reflected on their experiences as young women in their respective fields, and offered valuable advice on what they wish they had known during secondary school.
Their insights and enthusiasm resonated amongst the students, making the session both inspiring and memorable. Across our Senior Schools, we remain committed to nurturing digital capability, encouraging curiosity, supporting research and innovation, and ensuring every student can see a future for themselves in scientific discovery and leadership.
