Peter Shakallis (OH 2009)

Celebrating World Teacher’s Day! 🎉
Meet Peter Shakallis (OH 2009) — or as his students call him, Mr Shak, and to the staff, simply Shak.

🏃‍♂️ Physical Education Teacher
🏉 Head of Football Senior School (Boys)
🎓 Deputy Head of Middle School (Boys) – Castlefield

What do his Premiership winning AFL First XVIII boys say about him?
“Exuberant, passionate, energetic, enthusiastic, caring, and a great bloke.”

Matthew Lloyd, Haileybury’s First XIII Boys Football Coach, shares, “Shak is loved by all who are lucky enough to work with him or be taught by him. He has the ultimate respect of everyone because of his empathy, his warmth, his care, and his ability to communicate so well with staff, parents, and students of all ages. People like Shak do not come around very often in that he has a huge work ethic, has an amazing attention to detail, and has a nature that makes everyone feel so comfortable in his presence and want to be around him. Shak is a very special person.”

Outside the classroom, Shak’s life is bursting with energy and joy, thanks to his wife Zoe and their two little bundles of joy — Florence (5) and Leo (2). They keep him on his toes and fill every day with laughter and love! When he’s not teaching or with his family, you’ll find him involved in something sporty – football and fitness are his main interests – or enjoying a good book.

👏 Please join us in celebrating Peter Shakallis and all our amazing Haileybury teachers for their inspiring dedication and impact on our community.
