Where are they Now – Barbara van der Merwe (OH 2015)

Barbara van der Merwe (OH 2015) concurrently completed a Bachelor of Applied Entrepreneurship from the University of Canberra and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne while working in and around a variety of start-ups.

During university, Barbara had some incredible opportunities travelling through Asia and the USA working with start-ups and competing in a number of consulting competitions.

She founded Mandy Education in 2020, a financial education start-up, that works with schools, businesses and individuals all over Australia to help deliver financial education in the many different shapes and sizes. Haileybury was their first client (and will forever be our favourite!). Working closely Lisa Fraumano-Brady, they delivered a custom-built financial literacy curriculum for Haileybury’s Senior School. This work formed the basis for their recently launched national FinLit curriculum.

Earlier this year, Mandy Education partnered with Haileybury’s Entrepreneurship department, working with Damien Meunier to co-host a national entrepreneurship event. They have also enjoyed working with the OHA team to deliver a number of insightful workshops.
