Where are they Now – Eugene White (OH ’72)
Eugene White (OH ’72) attended Haileybury from 1961 – 1968 before moving to All Souls’ in Charters Towers in Queensland to complete his schooling. He attended Law School at the University of Queensland and has now been a lawyer for over 40 years, with the last 14+ years at Brisbane North Community Legal Service.
Eugene has diverse experience ranging from private, corporate, public and community practice. He is principally a litigator, and has also undertaken chairing, secretarial, representative roles; and community legal education/mentoring/networking activities with school/university students. He has memberships with the International Bar Association and International Commission of Jurists. “Thinking globally, acting locally” is his mantra!
Eugene has eagerly participated in public discourse and community activities; from Haileybury Junior School Forms Committee, member of, office holder in and provided ad hoc assistance to many entities: student, past student; service, community, social, sporting; legal, public affairs, welfare, cultural and literary.
In his fitter days, at lower levels, Eugene enjoyed umpiring Australian Rules and refereed rugby league football.
