Where are they Now – Zaheed Evans OH ’93

Zaheed Evans (OH ‘93) graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Strategic Management) and later from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Commercial Law (Hons).

Zaheed has gone on to pursue a career in the legal profession and has over 20 years’ national and international experience advising CEOs, C-Suite Executives, Boards and Management on general commercial law, financial services, high stakes negotiations, major projects, M&A, corporate governance and regulatory compliance. He also has over 15 years’ people leadership experience, sitting on executive leadership teams and leading legal departments.

Zaheed has had the opportunity to work in large global matrix organisations in financial services, insurance, funds management and fintech. He has worked for some of Australia’s leading organisations including Ashurst, top 20 ASX-listed companies including AXA Asia Pacific Holdings (AXA), AMP Ltd (AMP), Insurance Australia Group Ltd (IAG), AustralianSuper and World Vision Australia.

Zaheed is currently the Senior Director Legal – APAC at WEX, a NYSE-listed global payments company headquartered in Portland Maine USA. As the regional general counsel and a member of the APAC Leadership Team, he is responsible for providing strategic advice and counsel to the MD, Management and leading and enabling the legal team to provide commercially focused and pragmatic legal advice to all lines of business within APAC.

On a personal note, Zaheed’s three children (in Years 9, 7 and 4) commenced their own Haileybury learning journey at the Castlefield campus and are enjoying all of the opportunities that the school has to offer. Zaheed is also looking forward to the 30-year reunion of the Class of 1993 next year!
