ANZAC Day – Lest We Forget

The first edition of the new Senior School Newsletter ‘Sursum Corda’ was released last week by current students Deena El, Paddy McPhee, Sam Knight and Shannon Wallis.

Paddy McPhee, Sam Knight and Shannon Wallis: Responsible for producing much of the newsletters content. Paddy and Sam conducted a virtual interview with Dr Viney, wrote reviews on their top picks for reading and watching, along with the composition of general Senior School news.

Deena El: Designer of the newsletter, adding artistic flair to the work. Deena also helped to create content for the newsletter, organising the topics to be covered and student collaboration.

The Old Haileyburians Association were delighted and honoured to be featured, thanks to the outstanding work of Shannon Wallis and her ANZAC Day article.

After inquiring with Heritage and Archives staff Dr Garden and Mr Waters, about a request for any information on Old Haileyburian service to war, Shannon was provided with many primary sources. This included excerpts from ‘The Haileyburian 1919”, where Old Boy records and original biographies of their service were produced, along with photos and scans of primary sources, such as the “Changi menu” used in her article. Researching Old Haileyburian service opened her mind to much of what went on during these wars, making her feel proud to be a Haileyburian.
