In Loving Memory – Geoffrey Walker (OH ’54)

Geoffrey Walker (OH ’54) sadly passed away on 15 October 2021 after a long illness.

In his final year of school, Geoffrey was a strong cross-country runner and a football umpire. He was heavily involved in athletics and cross country, winning state and national open titles in both.

Geoffrey returned to Haileybury to teach History at the new Keysborough Senior School from 1969 – 1973. He also coached the cross country and middle distance runners and continued his involvement in the sport over many decades of coaching. He left midway through the year in 1973 to move to Texas where he intended to study, teach athletics and lecture. Geoffrey was known for his very dry sense of humour and after leaving, he kept in touch with many former Haileybury students and colleagues.

Our thoughts are with the Walker family during this difficult time.
