Where are they Now – Matthew Weinman (OH 2010)
Matthew Weinman (OH 2010) is a criminal and children’s law barrister at the Victorian Bar. However, his path to the Bar was very different to the norm. Matthew attended the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra immediately after graduating from Haileybury in 2010. After the Academy, he decided to pursue his ultimate ambition of becoming a barrister. After returning to Melbourne and working in a variety of legal and non-legal roles, Matthew was admitted to practice law, and passed the Victorian Bar Exam both in 2019. Within 12 months, he completed the Victorian Bar Readers Course in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Matthew enjoys the independence and challenge of being a barrister, and is looking forward to developing a long career at the Bar. He is open to meeting with any Old Haileyburians who are considering coming to the Bar as well. Outside of work, Matthew is an avid cyclist and is looking to complete some long-distance triathlons in 2021.
