Dane Verwey (OH 2004) – second fastest Australian to run 50km on the track
Huge congratulations to Old Haileyburian and former Athletics captain, Dane Verwey (OH 2004) who is now the second fastest Australian to run 50km on the track.
In a remarkable achievement, Dane set out to break the Australian record at Box Hill athletic track on Sunday 22nd November, with three running mates. In a challenging day for running with wind and rain, Dane ran under the previous Australian record (Mark Tucker 2.53.47) running 2.52.20 only to be beaten home by his good friend and new Australian record holder, Dion Finocchiaro. A huge effort Dane.
