Katya Gvozdenko (studying Medicine at Monash) and Yannee Liu (studying Pharmacy at Monash) both (OH 2019) joined forces to participate in the Beyond! Health 2020 Hackathon and came an impressive 3rd and were top Australian team.
Katya Gvozdenko (studying Medicine at Monash) and Yannee Liu (studying Pharmacy at Monash) both (OH 2019) joined forces to participate in the Beyond! Health 2020 Hackathon and came an impressive 3rd and were top Australian team.This competition brings pharmaceutical and medical students together from across 18+ Asia Pacific countries to create a future where the preventable burden of influenza is a thing of the past. Participants are briefed on a series of ‘real-world challenges’ that stand in the way of influenza vaccine uptake, with student teams brainstorming unique solutions from scratch.
One of the judges was so impressed with Katya and Yannee that he invited the pair to work with the Australia Immunisation Coalition as the ‘Flu Squad’ to increase vaccine uptake in 2021. Katya and Yannee, together with the Australian Immunisation Coalition team, are now planning for “”Flu Action Week” in April 2021.
